Hedge has been in the hospital and Emma is sick at home. Hedge had some complications from a fever and an infection he got and had some issues with his blood platelets. He has been getting some treatments and is doing great. He should get out of the hospital this week. .....from Mike

A letter from a doctor: It may take weeks to months for his platelet count to return to normal (90,000 or higher range). The fact that his count is 40,000 is great and gets us out of the woods where spontaneous bleeding can occur. My recommendation is to recheck the count in one week. If it is stable (staying the same) or slowly improving than I would probably check it on a monthly basis for 3-4 months until it is normal. The truth of the matter is that children respond so well, whereas adults are more difficult to treat when they have ITP.
We will keep in touch and thank you for keeping me posted.
Best wishes.
Dr. L. Gernon

PHABA - Joe Cotter Seals the Win at Bassett
.......
Joe Cotter scored the last 4 points of the game to seal the Patriots Varsity Basketball win at Bassett on Wednesday night, 67 to 56. PH really hustled on defense to pull away from the Bengals in the 4th period. We were down by as many as 10 points but rallied back with tough defense, great passing, and dropping in the shots. Marcus Banks lead the way with 22. Cam Jones followed with 21. Cam almost made an ally-oop dunk that would have made ESPN Top 10. Trey Crowder and B.J. Hamlett had 7 each, Joe Cotter had 4, and K.J. Epps had 2. The Varsity Boys will play on Tuesday, February 15 at home in the first round of the district tournament against Halifax at 7 PM. Come out and support the team as we enter the post-season play.

Tonight (Wednesday Feb. 9th) is Joe's game. It is an "away" game. Jeanni will send pictures.Joe Cotter has served the Varsity Boys Basketball Team faithfully as the team manager this season. People who know Joe, understand his servants heart and how he loves helping other people. These same people also know that Joe can play basketball. He can nail 3-pointers with the best of them. The guys on the team know it as well. They went to Coach Esworthy and requested that he allow Joe dress for a game. The team was trying to have him dress for the Bassett game at PH that was cancelled in January. The coaches have tried to get this game rescheduled, but to no avail. So, Joe will dress and play in the away Bassett game at Bassett H.S. on Wednesday night, February 9. I know it is a hike on a weeknight, but if you can make it, show Joe your support. If you can't wish him well when you see him.
Go Joe! Go Patriots! Beat the Bengals!

One of the challenging holes. The green isn't too far but it is way below, with no or little fairway. That is the new Princeville hotel in the background.

I am watching the Super Bowl right now and am reminded of the Rose Bowl games in Pasadena. At the end the fans would rush on to the field and tear down the wooden goal posts. Everybody would usually get a small piece.
