for Wednesday June 8th

1971. Jim and kids in Hawaii. On the Big Island with the lava flows. Myself with Steven behind me, Joseph, Jeanni, Mimi, and Patti.
Dad and I were at a contractor's dinner. They were raffling of a trip to Hawaii, worth $2000 (?). The tickets cost $20 each. He saw very few were sold, so he bought a bunch and won. Mama Jeanne also went. This was our first of many trips to this heavenly place.
Another story he told many times about this trip was we had dinner at at this fancy restaurant. The kids wanted hamburgers for dinner. We waited and waited for dinner. Dad called for the head waiter, "Can you speed it up, these kids are getting hungry". The waiter replied, "We are going as fast as we can, it takes a while to grind steaks into hamburger."
