for October 6th, Saturday

In our years of construction we put a lot of rock to stop the shore erosion. Michael (2.6) shown in red jacket. This rock came from our own quarry.

Same scene with the rock straighten up.

\\

On the Sacramento River. A Basalt crane barge is protecting the shore line and ready for an emergency should be one as we dug into the levee for a structure. Rock is from Basalt.

On the American near the connection with the Sacramento River. We are protecting the shore line and leaving growth above. Dredging fills the void. The crane eats away at the rock which is stored under water. It will be used to protect the dredged material. The rock came from our quarry.

The joke behind this cartoon is, where is all the rock placed under water, and what would it look like if the drain plug got pulled and the river got emptied.

Detail from above. Mary Ella's sister Midge's husband Joe drew this for me.
