Cinco de Mayo—or the fifth of May—commemorates the Mexican army's 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War (1861-1867). A relatively minor holiday in Mexico, in the United States Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a celebration of Mexican culture and heritage, particularly in areas with large Mexican-American populations. Cinco de Mayo traditions include parades, mariachi music performances and street festivals in cities and towns across Mexico and the United States. This holiday is not to be confused with Mexican independence day celebrated on Sept. 16th.

These pictures were taken on a trip to Mexico in 1979
There is story behind these pictures. We were on a bus tour n Mexico with about 20 oldsters and us. Everyone was invited to climb the pyramids. My restless energetic kids climbed them both. I waited in the bus for about an hour while the kids took the guide at his word. I can bring back the memories so clearly, just sitting there and hoping they would return. All in all It was a great trip.
